Inside the app

How guests stay connected.

The interface makes on-board workflows visible: finding conversations, making plans and personally inviting other guests to chat.

AIDA Chat: overview of two cabin chats and two private chats, with a preview of the latest message in each.

All chats at a glance

The overview brings together all cabin and private chats a guest belongs to. The latest message helps with orientation.

Making plans in the cabin chat

A shared excursion, dinner or meeting at the bar: cabin chat keeps travel groups connected.

Invite a person view with a choice between the cabin's own chat and a private one-to-one chat.

Invite specific people

Guests invite others to their cabin chat or start a private conversation. Travellers from several cabins can come together too.

Join by QR code

A time-limited QR code connects the invitation to joining the chat room. The other person scans it with their own device.

The on-board guest service

AIDAchat is AIDA's on-board chat service. Guests can communicate with each other during their trip. The underlying messaging solution's standard features did not cover the required workflows. Our extensions enable the chat behaviour designed for AIDA's on-board use.

Custom business logic for on-board operations

Our modules extend the messaging solution with business logic designed for AIDA. It connects chat with booked services and workflows during the journey. Our work includes the backend and integration of the required services, fitting chat into the existing guest offering.

Consider push notifications and read status together

Our work also includes push notification integration. We extended the chat frontend with a read status that is taken into account when notifying guests. This complements in-app conversation with notifications aligned to actual usage.

The chat module in the new AIDA app

The chat frontend is by Compeople; our extension adds read status. This frontend is integrated as a module into the new AIDA app, built by Adesso and released in summer 2026. Our contribution therefore covers the backend, connected services and the targeted extension of the chat module.

Replira grew out of this experience

Insights from AIDAchat informed Replira, a complete rebuild as an independent product. Replira implements the existing solution's key interfaces. This allows the server component to be replaced with little integration effort while retaining the existing chat frontend. Replira also includes service chats for communication between guests and departments.
